Neuro&CompSci with Dr. Konrad Kording

We’re back this September! Tune in to our Neuro& webinar this month featuring the fascinating field of computational neuroscience with Dr. Konrad Kording! Dr. Kording is a distinguished computational neuroscientist and professor at UPenn. His research on data science has been published in leading journals such as Nature and Nature Neuroscience. In addition, Dr. Kording is the co-founder of the computational science education company Neuromatch and the open science platform Community for Rigor. In his talk on Sunday, September 29th from 12-1 PM EST, Dr. Kording will share his extensive career journey and insights into succeeding in science through community. Participants will engage in an interactive discussion and have the chance to ask questions for Dr. Kording. IYNA chapter members will also receive points for participation by including their chapter IDs in their Zoom username. Individuals who display consistent engagement may even receive bonus points for their chapter!

image Neuro& is a monthly webinar series hosted by the International Youth Neuroscience Association (IYNA) with the support of the Dana Foundation. Through hour-long Zoom sessions, Neuro& aims to highlight the various career paths in Neuroscience and its diverse applications in society. The series offers participants the chance to listen to distinguished speakers in neuroscience-related fields discuss their career journey and current work. Engaging in interactive discussions and live Q&As, students will be able to develop a better understanding of professional fields and learn more about how to further their interests, gaining practical insights and advice for their future careers. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Where can I register for the webinar?

A: An RSVP form will be posted to IYNA’s website, Discord, and Instagram.


Q: Who can attend? What if I am an international student?

A: Neuro& encourages participants from all over the world to attend! We hope to facilitate meaningful discussions with diverse perspectives. Our series is aimed at providing high school students with the opportunity to explore neuroscience-related careers but is open to any individual with an interest in the field.


Q: Do I need to RSVP? What if I’m unsure if I am able to attend?

A: Although recommended, please do not RSVP if you are unsure of attending. Don’t worry, we’ll be having monthly webinars, so there will be other opportunities for you to participate!


Q: I am a member of an IYNA Chapter, do I get any benefits from attending a webinar?

A: Yes! All participants who attend and are also a part of an IYNA chapter will receive points for their chapter for their participation! You will be asked for your Chapter ID upon RSVP. Please refer to the IYNA Chapters Discord channel should you need further information.


Q: Is there a limit on the number of people attending?

A: No. We will try our best to accommodate everyone based on our Zoom plan.


Q: What if I can’t attend the webinar? Will there be a recorded video posted?

A: Yes, we will record the session and make the video available online on IYNA’s platforms. We encourage you to attend the webinar if possible, but feel free to register for the following month’s webinar!
