Hello! My name is Nick Manfred and I am a sophomore at Columbia University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior, with a minor in Chemistry. I am currently the Secretary of the Columbia Neuroscience Society and I work at the Hen Lab of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, where I am assisting with research on the role of the ventral hippocampal Mossy cells in anxiety and novelty. In high school, I participated in the Brain Bee held at Rutgers University for two years and made it to the championship finals. Since then, I have helped mentor students for the New York City Brain Bee. Last year I also helped co-coordinate a STEM research fair that hundreds of students attended. I am excited to give potential mentees guidance on any questions they might have, and I can't wait to meet everyone!
